Global Warming - City of Sunnyvale
Best Places to Live - Community and City Cares

City Council Special Meeting July 24, 2008 - best example of commitment by City, Residents and Staff

City approved full time sustainability coordinator during the slow economy, shows the greater care by everyone to have better life and protect future on our earth.

Barbara Fukumoto writes "Happy news! Sunnyvale to hire our own full time sustainability officer. At last night's sustainability workshop, our City Manager, Amy Chan, announced that Sunnyvale will hire our own full-time sustainability officer in September.

Amy reminded us that we are responsible for the world we pass on to our kids.

I think it is fair to say that our Cool Cities Team members present last night were thrilled. (Thank you for attending, Cathy, Jennifer, James, Art, AJ, Dan, Margaret, Ursula, Laurie, Judi N., Jan)-great showing-- and in the summer, even!)"

This city is ahead of the world in Global Warming concerns and City cares…

Best Places to Live - Money’s list of America’s best small cities
94. Sunnyvale, CA
WINNER
Top 100 rank: 94
Population: 130,500

Once known for its endless and bountiful fruit orchards, Sunnyvale is now an integral part of Silicon Valley, with tech companies AMD, Palm Inc. and Yahoo headquartered here.

Sunnyvale consistently ranks as one of the safest cities in the U.S., and it's one of the few cities in the nation to have public safety officers trained as both firefighters and police officers.

Desperate Housewives' Teri Hatcher and Olympic figure skater Brian Boitano hail from Sunnyvale (not to be confused with Sunnydale -- the fictional town of popular TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer). But don't expect any nightcrawlers here -- Sunnyvale is home to defense companies Lockheed Martin, Honeywell and Northrop Grumman.

God bless America, and God bless Sunnyvale
We all work to make sure Sunnyvale is the safest, best City on our planet
